Insomnia causes and Remedies :

Insomnia or No sleep is the inability to sleep or  remain asleep. It is also described as the condition of waking up from sleep, but not feeling refreshed.When insomnia persists for more than  a month, it is considered chronic.

Some medications can lead to insomnia, including the following health problems:


    Colds and allergies
    Depression
    High blood pressure
    Heart disease
    Thyroid disease
    Birth control
    Asthma
    Pain killers etc


Symptoms of insomnia are as follows:



    Difficulty in  sleeping
    Waking up frequently during the night
    waking up too early in the morning
    Difficulty returning to sleep once get up from bed
    Feeling unrefreshed after sleep
    Daytime sleepiness
    Difficulty in concentrating
    Irritability
  

Steps to be taken to cure Insomnia:


As soon as you notice Sleeplessness, take the following steps to prevent it from becoming habitual. (Worrying that you won't be able to fall back asleep makes it harder to sleep.)

1.Keep your bedroom dark:
Keep a small book light or mini flashlight next to your bed and use it to direct your way to the bathroom, or put a dim night-lamp in the bathroom and leave the door slightly open, so you can find your way there. Whatever you do, don't turn on the overhead light in the bathroom once you enter the bathroom.

2.Don't switch on the Television or computer at bed time

3.Do not eat before bedtime unless you are really hungry. Have your dinner quite early and avoid having tea,coffee or snacks before bed time.

4.Do some simple relaxation excercise before going to bed.

5.Frequent urination is a major cause for insomnia. If you are having frequent urination problem, approach a doctor and get treated.As we get older, our bodies' ability to hold fluids for longer period decreases.

6.Snoring is also one of the major causes for Sleeplessness. You need to change the life style to prevent snoring. As snoring not only effects your sleep but also your partner's sleep.

  • Losing weight or taking of few pounds can cure snoring.
  • Changing your sleep position can help in eradicating snoring. Try to avoid sleeping on your back.
  • Avoid Alcohol.
  • Avoid sedatives  and sleeping pills
7.Avoid having afternoon naps. Sleeping during the day can cause you not to be able to sleep at night.

8.Make sure your bedroom is comfortable. Sleep on a comfortable mattress. Make sure the room is not too hot or too cold.

9. Wear earplugs if there is a lot of noise in the background.

10.You can play soothing music in bedroom to fall asleep.
